よい文章が書けるようになりたければ、よい文章をできるだけたくさん読むことだと、よく言われる。
しかし、よい文章にだけ価値があるわけではない。
いわゆる名著の中にも、悪文は山のようにある。それは、文章の本質的価値がいかに書かれているかより、何が書かれているかにあるのだということの証明である。

If you are eager to be a proficient writer, they say you should read as many good passages as you can.
However, that is not followed by the fact that all good compositions are worthwhile reading.
There are tons of poor writings even in books so called masterpieces.
It proves the fact that what the sentence is all about lies in what is written in it, not in how it is written.
