能力や財産に関して、途方もなく差がある人に、ひとは嫉妬しない。
ひとが嫉妬する相手はむしろ、境遇が近い人、優劣や運不運など、その人との比較がいちいち気になって仕方がない人である。
その意味で、しっとのあいては、実は最も気がかりな自分が写っている鏡なのである。

こちらを英訳してみました。
You do not have feelings of jealousy at the person that has such a good talent or so much money that you cannot imagine.
You would rather be jealous of people who get on your nerves again and again when it comes to comparing yourself with those people that are like you, that you've won or lost, that are luckier than you or not.
In this point, people who let you feel jealousy actually work as mirrors that reflect yourself, the uneasiest one.
