According to the U.N. criteria, society whose senior citizens -individuals at the age of 65 or upper- account for more than 20% of its population is defined as super aging society.
Japan, in paticular, is facing the problem as it already has marked the proportion of 23% as of 2010.

国連の定義によると、65歳の高齢者が人口の21%を占めると超高齢社会となる。特に日本は2010年の時点で23%で、すでに高齢化社会に直面している。
