Thank you for your message.

I was born and raised up in a local area in Japan.
I almost had no chance to communicate with native speakers in English
until I joined English conversation class when I was a University student.
After studying basic English conversation at that class, I got an opportunity
to participate one month of home staying program in Seattle, United States
by introduction of my uncle. Immediately after I arrive at host family's house,
I got homesick because I could not understand their speaking English at all.
Furthermore, I could not come across my intention by speaking because of
my poor speaking. I also tried to pass my intension by writing, but not working at all.
It was just a culture shock for me because I had never experienced communication
problem as long as I speak in Japanese. This experience made me study English
seriously after I returned to Japan. It has passed more than 20years since then, but
I still feel necessity to learn English more to communicate well with overseas friends.

Before the end of the Cold War era, the United States and the Soviet Union acted what it terms acts of hegemony in various parts of the world.
For example, in the late 1970's, the Soviet Union invaded into Afghanistan in the pretext of helping neighboring countries.

They don't think two atomic bombs are justice.
If so, they are good people.
If not, they are illogical people for world peace.

>>540
That seems to be something everyone can agree.
However, humans are illogical creatures with heart, and so the world is destined to remain illogical.
To settle all the illogical human issues, you need something that goes beyond mere logic. So, as long
as you believe that logic can save humans, world peace will never be achieved.

I have already overcome the problem in Japanese language.
I got over such relativism.
However,I don't want it to be stolen,so I won't write all here.

I give you a hint.
Humans are illogical, but the illogical behaviors can be explained and be classified by various ways or term.
I discovered a logic.
If people oppose the logic, automatically they are defined as enemies agaist world peace.

Don't worry about it. Humans don't know the logic.
The logic give human paradigm shift.

I still don't understand why some Americans think the atomic bombs were revenge for Pearl Harbor.
Even if Pearl was technically a surprise attack, to equate that to atomic bombs is just childish.

550 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2015/08/30(日) 23:10:29.49 ID:VYl531zP.net
i wonder how american people feel about the pows that died of the atomic bombs and air raids?

They don't know about them.

552 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2015/08/30(日) 23:29:37.09 ID:c5jgyAdO.net
Revenge for Pearl Harbor? I've never heard that from Americans.
"Japan didn't surrender so we dropped the bombs to avoid letting half a million soldiers killed,"
is all I hear about it nowadays.

What I really don't understand is that American WW2 movie where they tell that Japan had
human-eating culture or something. I haven't watched it, and I don't know if it was a real thing
or some internet rumor. But as far as I know, it's a real movie. Can anyone tell me about it?

553 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2015/08/30(日) 23:31:52.57 ID:d4xH3EaR!.net
I'm american, and I've never heard of such a movie.
Honestly, that sounds so ridiculous that it's probably a joke.

554 :anonymous:2015/08/30(日) 23:33:07.43 ID:rphf8F6L!.net
"Japan didn't surrender" is what some of the smarter people say but a lot of people actually say it was revenge for Pearl.
I've never heard of a movie like you said though. There are a lot of movies that show the Japanese as cruel but human-eating is new to me.

555 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2015/08/30(日) 23:52:13.45 ID:VYl531zP.net

That is a Japanese movie. I guess you just wanted to advertise it.

I did a quick research on the human-eating thing. Unbroken is the movie, and it is a story
about a POW enduring gruesome torture. The movie does not mention human-eating, but
from my quick research, the original "non-fiction" novel mentions a POW getting "eaten alive"
as part of torture and it is "traditional Japanese custom." I don't know the exact wording in
English, though. Anyway, it wasn't as interesting as I thought it would be.

I heard this from smart people. If you run really fast (like near the speed of light), your penis
becomes shorter. This means that if you run really slow (like 1/1000000 of the speed of a snail),
your penis becomes longer. We could use this alien physics to end the aforementioned misery.

Hi!
I read this thread for the first time.
I have to say you guys are very very good at English.

I started studying English about two months ago,
and I found that speaking English is a very hard thing to do.
Of course I took some English classes in junior high and high school
so I can understand basic grammar, I sometimes enjoy English movies or books.
But expressing my feelings or thoughts is a whole other thing.
Whenever people talk to me, I freeze like a complete moron.
My brain stops. My vision becomes all white, I even can't see the person's face.
Only simple word (or broken sentence) is coming out from my mouth,
it is impossible to form a dicent sentence, not mention my poor pronunciation.

You guys seem so fluent, but only in writing?
Or can you speak English as good as you can write?
If you can pleeeease give me some advice!
I know there is a lot work to do, but I don't know where to start.
初投稿で長文ごめんなさい

I can't say much about learning English but from my experience learning Japanese so far,
the best thing that you can do is listen to people speak the language you want to learn.
Doing that for Japanese helped me more than two years of classes.
You could try to watch American news, movies, or other things with Japanese subtitles.
If you do it often, you will be much more comfortable speaking English.

The reason you end up being like that must be lack of experience of using English ,and talking with English speakers.
this KOPIPE will help you to be fluent speaker

Think in English

Achieve real English fluency by thinking in English.
While this takes skill, when you are able to think in English instead of in your native language,
you'll know that you've really mastered the language. As you go throughout your day, try to think about
what you're doing in English. Don't translate from your native language. Actually use English as a starting point.
The more you do this, the closer you will get to fluency.

Let me tell you something funny strange or which could be haha.
I'm a middle aged man and since I was very young, I have this feeling.
That is, I somehow feel comfortable singing female's songs. When I sing men's songs
like Rock, I feel something is strange inside. I somehow feel comfortable
singing chick's songs which lyrics is written from a girls's stand point.
I'm single but I don't think I'm gay but I think singing Avril Lavine is
more comfortable than, say, singing nickel buck or something tough guys songs.
Usually, I sing in my head, and when I sing girls's songs, I'm in a girl mode
like, if the song is about a girl who has a boy she wants to go out with, I feel
like I was in the same position like her and I don't feel awkward at all.
I never loved a boy or a man but still, I don't feel strange about me in the
girl's position and actually I'm very comfortable with that. When I sing a song about a
man who loves his girlfriend or who wants to hit on a girl, I feel a bit
strange. Maybe I have a fraction of homosexuality in me? My heavy rotation
these days is Carly Rae Jepsen's "I really like you." Even when I sing

It sounds a lil odd but not strange so much. Some people can feel extasy when changing themselfs,
from normal you to hero,to idol singing in screen.if you can think it is real you singing about man with love rather than normal real life you,
you might have homosexial mind in ur heart.for me i prefer to hear Man's song which is songs makes me feel I have talent to singing as them.
so i do.But when it comes to listen radio, youtube video as tool of studying English I prefer woman voice that is easier to hear for me and comfy.
Simply I want to hear and feel woman's voice and through my ear and feel sexualism from their voice.

One thin I worry about is that after doing onany ,I want to hear man's song via youtube.my mind can be like this..
"okey.. it's done ..so i want to listen music..lalala"but why i always choose man's songs?it depends on what kind of songs you hear always,
but this feeling a lil bit makes me feel "do i have chance to be gay..?" nah.. it is not so easy to know yourself and to get to know which ..
I heard that there are very few percent but every ppl have possibily to be bisexual and homsexial in your heart.

ordinary japanese people must have learned that prepositions should be (or "must" be) followed by nouns.

I think the reason why Germany accept the refugee is not only by humanitarian grounds but also by economic one.
The nation conquered a problem of Reunification which brought huge population growth. It gobbled up population and
by doing so still keeps steady economic growth.

I am fed up with this. And nowadays Japanese say that when they see someone who are good at speaking... oh they are cool.lot alone for foreigners but asians..

The word "gaijin(外人)" has "outsider" kind of meaning, so it's more polite to say "gaikokujin(外国人)."

Japanese→Jap)
ことがあるため、日本語でもそうであると理解されているケースや、単純に外人であることで日本社会から疎外されていると感じるケースなどがある。

isn't it like a required subject or something?

anyhow, i wish schools took foreign language teaching more seriously here (in america).
like, it was a graduation requirement, and the school didn't really give a shit if
the kids actually learned something about the language or not, just that
they had it on their credits. for real, i'd say about half the kids that had
to take a class passed with the lowest passing grade.

It also doesn't help that there wasn't much variety in the options available.
where i went, we could only choose one of two languages: Spanish, or French.
some other schools in the district offered things like German and Japanese in addition, but
our school was poor so we only had french and fucking spanish.

in my freshman year, it was super relieving when i took 3rd year french and
saw that there were others who actually liked learning the language and using it.
it was super comfy, because my class only had about 12 people in it,
most of the class being super qt grills. also the teacher was a total bro.

At my school, we had Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Latin.
We were required to take one of those for at least 2 years consecutively.
The levels of dedication were very different between the languages though.
The kids taking Spanish did not care at all, the ones taking French either cared a lot or not at all,
The ones in German were very interested in their language, the ones in Japanese (myself included) practiced Japanese like a religion,
and the few people left over in Latin really just wanted to do well on their SATs, which was respectable and the classes were all filled with smart kids.

1. is relatively easy (alphabet, pronunciation, grammer, etc.)
2. is used by 500M people
3. is the official language of 21 countries

When I was in college, I took German as(for?) third language.
We had one class -50 minutes- a week for a year, so about 25-30 hours in total.
That was nothing, right?
That was no way to learn a new language.
I can't use German in any way, I can't understand German at all.
BTW, I had no English classes in college.

What kind of college is that?

In my college I was required to take the second language from German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Mandarin, Korean, Russian. And then I took German since it's similar to English so I thought it's easier.

I remember there were 2 classes of 90 minutes in a week for one year.

Now I don't remember anything about German.

word genders aren't that difficult though. Usually it just means an article
or adjective will change its pronunciation slightly.

fun fact: before the normans invaded england , english had three genders
and four cases, like modern german, as well as things like a subjunctive case.

but still can't use it... that's good to know.
I wonder how much time is just good enough (and not too much) for third language

gradually my aversion to English faded away.

A woman has the world's most glorious asset called "vagina."
So long as she keeps it well-functioning and nice-looking,
she does not have to do anything else in particular
to maintain a decent life
in this desire-oriented, crappy, petty cesspool of a world.

A man, on the other hand, has no such asset
with comparable universal value.
That is precisely why he is condemned to slave away his entire life
for the sake of his lover or wife, whom you could call a legal prostitute
if you so wished, and for the sake of offspring
whom she may have mistakenly brought into this devilish world
and who may have never wanted to come here in the first place.

That is the essence of what is told in the First Holy segment
of the world's greatest book.

I wish my parents had let me watch...

Tips for learning grammar is to make it simple and use it until you are get used to using it.
For instance,I often talked to myself with simple sentence to remember.

"I wish I had done."
You want to say that phraise with the image that you really wish.
In your case,After many practice, you would say that "I wish I had started to learn English ealier."
Then It would be much easier to say that that sentence you mentioned that I wish my parents let me ..(verb)..

I guess the reason why you wrote such wrong sentence is simply you have just less oportunity to use it.

so,,, from today how about to start to tweet ...
I wish I had done..
I wish I had been there..

After using those sentence above, you will find that it will be no longer difficult to use it.
Then,Change Subject in order to practice more....or change another part of sentence.
Wish you like this.and I would say in future, I wish you had liked this advice.Wish you were here so that I could teach you in person.
Of course need less to say I am not so fluently either. I might made many gramatically mistakes on this sentences...
By the way... what do you guys wish you have done???

Prime Minister Abe and his ruling LDP stress the defense build-up plan and neglect the socially disadvantaged.
But the opposition parties have not criticized his hawkish posture strongly despite Japan's political crisis.

The gentlemen's activities were conspicuous among other donors for schools for physically handicapped, mental-retarded and misfortunate children.

Public support of the Prime Minister is waning because he gave in to hawkish demands within his ruling party.
Of course, he has had the rightest idea that Japan would become a military power again.

I don't know why anybody would want to be a military power these days, if they already
have a strong economy. Is Japan going to build up its army and navy and air force and
try to confront China about its construction on 南沙諸島? That doesn't seem very tenable.

But yesterday, she said she would move out in three days because of her job.
It's so soon.
I'm not ready for that.

But there is nothing I can do.
I know it's ridiculous fo me to cry over her moving out,
because we both are grown-ups.
