東西冷戦は戦後５０年続いた。自分もその時代を生きてきたが、あまり関心を持っていなかっ
た。本書は、スターリンとトルーマン、メレンコとアイゼンハウワー・・ゴルバチョフとレーガン・
ブッシュまでの時代を振り返り、それぞれの対立の背景、人物の紹介、冷戦緩和交渉の経過
と結果、内幕等を分り易く解説しているので、興味深く読むことができた。

小説等フィクションの英語とこうしたノン・フィクションの英語を交互に読むことは、気分の転換
にもなる。捏ね繰り回した英語と平易で簡潔な英語を交互に読む！　これがいわば英語の
インターバル学習で、英語学習の持続と英文解釈力上達に効果的な方法だ。

（本書の英語は平易である。）
