One time I was out on a date with a Japanese guy. We were sitting at a cafe facing each other. When he leaned forward and his face came closer, I noticed his nose hair's sticking out of his nose. I tried not to look at it but it kinda bothered me.
Then he said he went to the bathroom. Surprisingly, after he came back to the table, his nose hair's gone. I almost laughed imagining him putting back his nose hair in front of the mirror. He must have hoped I didn't notice it but it was too late lol

Congressmen made an issue of the right of collective self-defense. In the late 1980's, the United States urged Japan to fit its defense program to the changing international situation.
Japan's basic defense program was drawn up in 1976.
But later, Japan allotted more defense budget to the Self Defense Forces.
In the early 1990's, Japan participated in the UN peacekeeping functions with limited armaments.

Maybe the Colombians are still haunted by the murder of Andrés Escobar
in 1994. He accidentally scored an own-goal in the 1994 World Cup.
After returning home, he was approached by three men in a car park,
who then shot him. Some people believe it was due to a grudge from
gang bosses, having caused gambling losses. Others believe it was just
due to the lawless nature of Colombia at the time.

Either way, it would be incentive to perform well.

normal. I guess it helps men deal with women when they think of them
as parts, not as a complete human being. That is what the video suggests.
I think objectifying men should help women to deal with men too.

In my opinion, learning the history of Takeshima islands is , for sure, so difficult because there are
lots of historical facts you have to learn.
But there is one thing you don't need to learn from the beginnng.
Thatis to say, Takeshima islands have been in the Japanese territory since time immemorial.

I think it depends on the fish and chip shop. While the fish is really
just battered, sometimes inferior oil and batter mixture can be used. Since
chips are part of the experience, sometimes the chips can be awful too.
For people who find it a bit plain, shops offer a variety of sauces
for the chips, including ketchup, curry, brown sauce, even cheese. I
prefer just a bit of salt, vinegar and ketchup. Haddock is also becoming
more and more popular at fish and chip shops.

That's right, salt and vinegar are the most commonly used seasonings for
fish and chips. The vinegar helps cut the grease from the oil, while the
salt enhances the flavour of the fried potato. Some people prefer ketchup,
while some people prefer brown sauce (what is sometimes known as HP Sauce):

It is very rational.
In Japan, it costs about 1,500 yen( 14.80 dollars ) for 3 × 220ml HP Sauses.

That's right, we only really use malt vinegar here for food such as chips.
As for HP sauce, it's very versatile. Though it's often used on chips, another
popular British food is what we call a 'bacon butty'. This is just some cooked
bacon in a bun, often with some HP Sauce. However, I can't promise that you
will enjoy it. personally, I'm not a fan of HP Sauce.

The cost seems pretty high, but I guess it's imported and somewhat unusual. A
255g bottle of HP Sauce here costs £1.00 (170jpy). I'm not sure why our bottles
use grams instead of millilitres...

There are many different American accents, which makes it interesting, I think.
For example, some researchers believe that the American accent might be similar
to how British English sounded several centuries ago. Also, there's the Boston
accent which sounds quite similar to modern British English in some ways.
Quite a few British actors are cast as Americans, due to proficiency with accents.
For example, Christian Bale as Batman, as well as in American Psycho and American Hustle...
Henry Cavill as the latest Superman, Hugh Laurie as Dr. House in House M.D., etc.

Cookery books are very popular here, as are cookery shows. As you say,
Jamie Oliver, Heston Blumenthal and Gordon Ramsay are probably the most
well known TV chefs here. They're all a bit crazy, really. However,
Blumenthal is known for his unconventional cooking methods. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WPq5jtW5J0
Ramsay is known for his temper. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYagyuKZ5Mg

As >>272 mentions, it is a space opera. It is about a man on a spaceship
who has been asleep for 3 million years after an accident kills the rest
of the crew. Since he is the only human left, this show deals with the
psychological trauma caused by his immense loneliness, and what he must
do to keep on living. It is very sad.

It's July already and we're more than half way through the year of 2014.
So it's a good time to look back the first half of this year.
Funny thing is that one 2 channeler is making a calendar for the next year.

It's said 2014 is an exceptionally colorful year when lots of unique incidents/crimes are
happening every month, so we are not short of the person of the month for the 2015 callendar.
So, it's time for a quiz!

Do you recognize all of them in the calendar? What did they
do? Japanophiles here, have you been updated on what's happening in Japan?
See the calendar and test how much you keep up with things in Japan.

When I watched the politician in the video, I felt embarrassing too!
He didn't answer any question (well, I just watched a 2 mins video), to me, he just pretended crying when he couldn't find any word!

I heard now that he has refused any interview due to his unstable mental...
It seems that he was a spoiled child, when he cried, mum did anything for him ....

Continuous rain makes me feel a little bit depressed.
Is there any relationship between weather and human being's feelings which has scientifically proved to be true??

357 :イギリス人:2014/07/04(金) 05:02:41.47 ID:QUsUjiu2!.net
>>355
It is true. Some people habitually start sentences with things such as
"basically", or "actually", and it becomes quite annoying. Many of the
others are what we call 'business speak', which many people in management
positions say to try and sound competent at their job (especially if they're not).

>>356
I'm not sure about scientific studies, but my grandmother becomes depressed if the
weather is wet or very dark and cloudy. She spends as much time as possible in the
sun. Although it makes her happy, it's very bad for her skin.

Is is just me but I think "obviously" is overused like "basically" and "actually,"
although it's not ranked in the top 20 list made in 2008.
The use of "obviously" is more current trend? What do you think?

>>355 I am an foreigner expat living in the UK. I avoid all of these
because i am so annoyed by them.
I am very annoyed by "ballpark figure", "slap on the wrist, "I am afraid".
"out of the window", "exactly", "over the hill" blah blah.
On th eother hand I use English in a strange way. In one project meeting when I used "
these are dead on arrival" you should see the look on the Chinese colleagues'
faces.

Weather and your feeling are linked, the substance called "serotonin" increases when you get sunshine, in which make you "happy".
That is why in spring or summer, many 'idiots' or even crimes are increasing, as warm/hot/sunshine make people more active-agressive simetimes.

You will find that countries in near north pole has high proportion of sucide because of depression - lack of sunshine.

--
I used to say "actually" too often, and I realized it was a bad habit so I got rid of it.
Now I find one of my friends says the word ALL THE TIME and it becomes annoying me... I totally agree with it!

Please watch "Yes, Minister". "Yes Prime Minister" and "Blackadder"

Please, do not put down or make negative comments on other people's English!
Do you know how HURTFUL that is? Why do you want to stop people learning?
You HAVE to realise that you are damaging other people's morale.

If they make an effort to be flexible, they will understand you very well.
In order to do that, they need to make an effort to learn Japanese or other
languages. Learning another language should develop your understanding
of humanity. If they think they have got it made, sitting on the riches
that their ancestors looted, not wanting to flex their mind, they are not
only selfish but they are stupid too (they have no ambition for learning or progress).

I hate all kinds of religions.
Of course, it is difficult to define what religions are but according to Weber Max, they are
dedined as patterns of behaviors, which he called ethics.
So other than major religions such as Chrsitianity, Islam and Buddhism, there are a variety of religions in this world.
For example, it goes without saying that the theory of evolution or communisum are kind of religions.
A new kind of religion of your own comes into existence when you believe in something as an absolute.

peace to people, many religions (especially Christianity and Islam) were
formed to gain wealth and power, and to control the population.

The yolk is the best part! How do you know what British people taste like?

than I do. If I bother with it, I just have either cereal or yoghurt.

Japan made schools, bridges and so on. Japan used a lot of money.
However, when Korea repairs them, Korea rewrites the Japanese flag into the Korean flag.
It is cheper to repair them than to built them.

You buy a BMW. The car breaks down. You have your car repaired at a Korean car doctor.
You go to get your car there. You see the emblem "BMW" is replaced with "Hynudai."

The most worst problem I think was that the Japanese government(military) didn't care at all how many Japanese citizens were killed in the war. They treated their people like consumables.

After the war, Americans made up a new crime called " crime agaist humanity" so that they could take revenge on
our political leaders even though they killed a lot of innocent Japannese citizens as mentioned above.
How could they do such an atrocious thing?
It's because Ameicans were ( and are) shameless and sinful people.

I think that is not evidence that Japan would have attacked ordinary American people if Japan had had enough power.
It is because America was a racist and outlaw nation at that time.
They didn't have any justice.
America accepted nothing but the undonditional surrender from Japan.
Japan was forced to continue fighting.
America had the command of the air.
America wanted Okinawa from the beginning.
America wanted Japan. That's all.

I think the truth was Japan and the US were even bad.
I am absolutely enraged with America for dropping A-bomb twice.
Why two times? One was very enough in the situation.
America proved themselves having no justice for this point.

They just wanted to show their super power to Soviet union.

In the future men should be banned from engaging in politics.

I don't think even because Japan had taken Sakoku policy since America came to Yokohama.
Japan was forced to accept unequal treaties with other countries.
Japan must be strong, Japan wanted to be invaded like other asian countries.
North is Russia, she is very dangerous.
Korea had no power, so Korean hoped the annexation by Japan.

Japan proposed the abolition of racial dscrimination in the League of Nations in 1919 , but it was rejected.
If Japan had had no power, who could have protected Asia from fucking shit westerners?
Japan's war ended in 1945, but westerners didn't. They came back Asia. They were very shamful nations.

>>725 You cannot say women are illogical becuase there is no scientific truth
or tangible evidence for your claim. If you say so, show me the gene that
turms "logical ability" off when the gender of an embroyo turns female.
Is there such a thing? No. Are men and women different species? No.
Logical thinking is a human skill which needs to be cultivated with training.
If you refuse that training, you will not be logical. Besides, can you prove
that politics is run by logical thinking men? It is all based on
showing off who has the biggest d****, ie weapons. It is all about
retaining power and profits not human/planetary welfare.

749 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2014/07/21(月) 00:22:35.74 ID:mZvjH5tu.net
It is not necessary to use tchnical terms on the gene, because this logical need only logic on the language.

"However, women are not locigal yet.
Don't misunderstand it. It is not discrimination feeling.
In Japan, at least, there are no women who think about world peace logically like me."

I cannot say enough about it in English, so I said "Don't misunderstand it."
My poor English ablitiy took your sayings "men cause war."
I think fighting instinct is not war gene.
All depend on logical thinking ability.

In Japan a lot of questionnaire showed women select illogical choice about the war.
For exampl, the number of Japanese women who support Prime minister Abe is much less than the number of men.
Japan has only one choice because the opposition forces of Japan are almost traitors.
Of ourese, logical women exist in Japan, but, in any case, I have the most logical thinking about peace in the world.
If I could speak English well, I would refute people all over the world.

I am sorry but you are missing th epoint. Without the exception
defence decions are made and carried out by men, I hope you realise this
blaringly obvious fact. women and children always suffer the consequences.
The have no control of their destiny because a bunch of MEN want power,
and make a stupid show for it. How can you not see this? If I was a man I would
admit to it. It is a fact! Check out the statistics,I am not saying
there is a fighting instinct in the male gene. I am saying MEN have been in power for
too long, power makes them crazy and turn them into little boys.
That is why the world is suffering so much.

OK, I probably understand your thinking.
I agree with women's social progress, but women have to be more logical at the same time.
And the progress must be done simultaneously with the sound development of rogue nations.
The current logical thinking skill of Japansese women is irresponsible toward the national security.
If women want to advance into political world, they(Japanese women) have to be more logical.
Of courese, a lot of logical women exsit in Japan, like Katayama, Inada Sugita and so on.
China is a very dangerous nation.
In Japan, in such a situation, the women's rapid advance into political world would be very dangerous.

In the UK, there are too many health and safety laws and too much red tape.

I'm now junior in the A-ranked university.
I have several credentials ; 2-grade of BOKI , MT driver lisense,
3-grade of FP(financial planning) , TAKKEN , 840 score of TOEIC.
I've been doing part-time job for two and half a year
and my hobbies doesn't cost, I mean, swimming, SYOGI, running,
wathing animation with English subscription, so there is 2.130.000 yen
in my bank account.

hmmm, come to think of it, I'm great person !!

My university comrade (espesially women), however, lack the stoic attitude toward life.
I've got no choice but to think that they see life as child play (OMAMAGOTO)
No no no, it sure isn't.
Our great ancestor made today's Japan with great effort.
With many Japanese being such airheads, Japan might be lost in the not far future.
Whenever I imply these points, they make wry faces as if to say
I'm "MOTHER FUCKER".

You serious? I'm in my early 20s and people around me say the word often. It's rather a word used by younger people I guess. Probably it also depends on the people you hang out with.
Like you hear the word being used by those people who speak English in their daily life, maybe at work or at school, but has never done their schooling overseas. Get out there and see with your own eyes! Lol

I don't know what you think about Japan in details, so I cannot answer the question.
However we shouldn't accept the government's decisions uncritically.

Certainly, Japan doesn't help me and the nationals are irresponsible to our society illogically,
but I think it is not a problem of liking or not.
Now is a not perfect world.
If you have an ideal Japan, you can take part in making it.

Sometimes I like it rough. I like to be tossed around and flipped upside-down.
But then all the ink goes away from my tip and I feel light-headed for a while.

The Ukrainian incident reminded me of the phrase, "Better red than dead", which was a concept to be held in contempt.

Do many people drink fruit vinegar? It's pretty disgusting...

I don't know if many people do but my mom used to drink apple vinegar juice daily or regularly. It seems pretty healthy.

I drink Moromi vinegar every day.
The chief ingredient of Black vinegar is acetic acid, so it's difficult to drink without adding water or something,
However, that of Moromi vinegar is citric acid and it's esay to drink.
Anyway, acetic acid is changed to citric acid, so it is almost the same.

Come to think about it, beheading has been a traditional way of killing.

It's not that disgusting after all.

If you put "beheading" on search bar, tons of beheading videos will come up!

996 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2014/07/29(火) 21:49:45.84 ID:P5E3cjWG.net
I used to watch some of those and I have to admit its so addictive and magical like just say like 30 seconds before beheading, they are alive but they are immediately gone right?

The chronicle of war between Israel and Palestine has showed that cease-fire is no easy task since Israel's annexation of eastern Jerusalem in 1967.
