I believe moral value in working places differs from the past to the present days.
First, the idea of gender equality has become very common.
Many words which were commonly used to female workers 3 decades ago are regarded as sexual harassment in many cases. Therefore, most male workers try to choose right expressions to female workers. For example, when a female worker come to our office with her hair cut, male co-workers cannot praise her, saying, “ Your hairstyle is beautiful. “ For some women, this is thought to be sexual harassment, and hurt them.
Second, many workers have become less loyal to their companies since the bubble burst in 1990.
During the two-decade-recession, many companies laid off their workers, and began to hire temporary workers instead.
As a result, nowadays many employees realize that their companies are not the same as a family, and are afraid that they may be dismissed finally.
Therefore, rather than showing loyalty to their companies, many polish their skills personally to survive even though the day would come
when their companies will cut them. There are many workers who study English, coding, or video editing, for example.
Some of them may prepare for the case I mentioned.
